And of course you can't forget the soon-to-be college graduates in your life. (Part one and two were for the high schoolers — but really, any of them can be used for anyone.)

This is a continuation of my previous post about what to get high school grads. That one was more generic — cards, silly kitsch high schoolers dig (like I'd know, it's been a few years...) — but this one is much more practical. Fill up the bin in the middle with some goodies and your college-bound grad can use it once he/she gets to the dorms.

Board No. 27 - Ginkgo Fan

My favorite tree of all time is the ginkgo. It's my dad's favorite, too, so I guess it shows I'm still a daddy's girl, but for a tree it has so much meaning behind it. I mean it's a living fossil, how neat is that. Anyway, the reason it's in my mind today is that the little baby leaves are starting to come out on the thousands of ginkgos that line D.C. streets. It's one of the first trees that have greenery at this point in the year, letting me spring is officially here (that and the 90-degree weather...).

Board No. 26 - D.C. Lovin'

Everyone says shop local, which I get — there's nothing better than farm-fresh produce and getting to know the sellers you buy from — but I guess in the Etsy world that just means less USPS trucks traveling cross-country. I can get on board with that. Well, I live in Washington, D.C., so I figured I'd feature some of the local Etsy merchants (meaning it's going to be a couple boards, that's how many fantastic things I found!) — but that doesn't mean that everyone can't buy from them, too.

Top row: Set of 3 Fun and Functional Magnets from maggiesuedesigns; Happy Birthday Cupcake Tee from brittainroad; Strawberry Time Green Skirt from retrothreads; Linen Dresses with Handmade Fabric Flower from lilfishy
Second row: Fun Full Apron from BunandPup; Pack of Kid Themed Lined Envelopes from geschichtenvonkat; Carnelian and Gold Three Drop Necklace from anaramon; Modern Cameo from DestashDungeon

Board No. 25 - Here's What's Cookin'

I was totally inspired by a treasury from beckykazana — which on her blog, The Fab Miss B, she turned into a story titled "Ms. Betty Crocker's Etsy Picks." The items she chose are some of my favorite things, and the story's pretty cute. Anyway, I am taking one of the items she chose, a vintage Friendship-inspired tin recipe box, and creating a board around it:

Top row: Personalized Printable Recipe Cards from jenandink; Simple Fruits Personalized Print Your Own Recipe Cards from BlueClara; Retro Printable and Folding Recipe Cards from paperfunkpress; Hummingbird Recipe Cards Set of 10 from boygirlparty

In support of Etsy Day!, I am going to try and post a lot today. This will be a continuation of my ongoing Pounce Undiscovered series, as it was one of Etsy Admin's suggestions on The Storque:

"Support a new seller on Etsy Day! Buy an item from someone with no sales (you can find them on Pounce Undiscovered), and wish them a 'Happy Etsy Day' in the Message to Seller field when you check out."

I found a ton of great items while surfing through the undiscovereds, so I am breaking it up into subcategories. Without further ado, check out some new jewelry artists and spread the Etsy word today (and everyday!).

Board No. 19 - Board for the Bay

Everyone's talking about Earth Day, so some local D.C. foodies (FoodieTots and ArugulaFiles) decided to try a "Blog for the Bay" day, urging bloggers to write about the Chesapeake Bay and then link to the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s petition urging the EPA to quit delaying action to help save our Bay. There is so much good food and fun to be had, even beyond all the delicious crab, which is unfortunately suffering because of the ever-deteriorating conditions of the Bay. I was just in Annapolis last week for work, and it was such a fantastic day that it lifted my spirits all week (I highly recommend oyster shooters at Middleton Tavern). So, here's my ode to the Bay and to the Eastern Shore — oh how many memories I have!

Board No. 18 - Childhood Favorites

So I am being honest and am going to admit that this post is inspired by one of the items I listed in my shop today: an ALF tablecloth that my parents had left over from my 5th birthday party. With My Little Pony making a serious comeback, Barbie celebrating her 50th birthday and "Where the Wild Things Are" heading to the big screen, its like I've been celebrating my childhood all year. I found so many of my favorite "memories" while browsing Etsy, so many in fact that I have to narrow it down here to just TV shows/movies.

Top row: Poppy Smurfs TuTu Skirt from XPoppysWickedGardenX; Care Bears Glow in the Dark Tote Bag from GroWild; Fraggle Rock Votive from ArtsyChica
Middle row: Good Luck Care Bear Mini Glycerin Soaps from DuckySoaps; My Little Pony Pink and Purple 80s Retro Heart Comb Necklace from sheshodesigns; Vintages 1985 Aladdin Sesame Street Lunchbox and Thermos from TOYHEAP
Bottom row: ET Coin Purse from tackytiffany; Smurfed - Out Step Stool from LadyInAShoe; Vintage Strawberry Shortcake Coffee Mug from uplandvintage

Board No. 17 - Ampersand Love

So, I am going to admit something a little embarrassing. My name is Andrea and there was a time in junior high/high school — I truthfully don't remember when exactly — that I signed my name &rea. Oh, I thought I was cleaver. Well, even though I am past that phase, I still really love the beautiful shape of ampersands and have been looking for one — maybe either wooden or large letterpress — for my apartment. Here are the results of my searching on Etsy, not so much wall decor, but lots of great buys nonetheless:

Top row: Ampersand American Apparel U-Neck Tee from citizenone; Jumbo Wire AmpersandAmpersand Pillow Cover from marleyandlockyer; Ampersand Cushion - Teal on Chops from AuntyCookie
Middle row: Felt Ampersand Accent Pillow from lgaumond; Ampersand Sign Shabby Cottage Letters Chic from thebackporchshoppe; Epershand Earrings from Isette; The Super Ampersand Tee from loremandipsum
Bottom row: Custom Wedding Invitation - No. 10 from westwillow; Antiqued Typewriter Key Necklace from basilthecat; Custom Wedding Invitation Set - No. 7 from upup from kristinemays;

Not included in the board, I did find this one that I am torn about. I am not usually a seashell person at all, and this reads to me as a bit bridal, but something about it is making me laugh a little and in a good way. Survey: What do you think? Hit or miss? Leave me a comment below.

Board No. 16 - Newspapers Aren't Dead!

When I saw this bag on the Metro this morning, I was inspired to do two posts. One, my previous one, was about being crafty, and this, is about how newspapers aren't dying — at least not in the Etsy world. I work at a newspaper, so I have to believe there is a future for journalism beyond Twitter. Even if you don't read them, you can recycle them with many different crafty uses like several of the sellers below.

Board No. 15 - I Wish I Could Do That ...

I was on the Metro this morning and spotted a woman with this fantastic bag made out of a Washington Post. I didn't get a chance to ask her where she got it as she got on the train one stop before I got off, but I did get a really bad snapshot of it:

This bag inspired two posts, this one and one about newspapers.

I am completely in awe of how talented so many Etsy sellers are. I am constantly finding "crafts" on Etsy that I say to myself, "I wish I could do that. That's so creative!" Well, here's some of the projects I have on my list to learn in the next, well, who am I kidding ...

Board No. 14 - Little Birdie

Yesterday was so beautiful that we had the windows open and I heard the birds chirping outside all day. Even though it's raining all day today, yesterday's weather and the hint of spring has led me to want a bird feeder or two to put up in the backyard, and Etsy has a huge stash of them:

Board No. 12 - Eddie Inspiration

One of the many blogs I constantly follow (along with everyone else, it seems!) is Eddie Ross' because I really like his style and that he's always encouraging people to be thrifty — something I pride myself on. That being said, however, I find that many of the items in his fabulous new Etsy shop are still way out of my price range — I'm not saying he charges too much, just that I'm fiscally challenged. So, this is going to be a different type of inspiration board. I am going to take beautiful items from his shop and find some similar items from other shops that are a bit more wallet friendly. (Sorry, Eddie!)

Left: Eddie's pierced silverplate serving tray - $60
Right: Inspired filigree tray - $9

Left: Eddie's set of 6 1970s Golden Goddess glasses - $72

Board No. 11 - "Wedding" Dresses

I've been an absentee blogger for a couple days. Work has been quite busy and I have a quiz in class tomorrow. No excuse! Anyway, while searching for comfy clothes the other day, I came across a bunch of dresses that I thought were adorable and it got me thinking of all the weddings I have coming up. I could totally use a new "wedding" dress (or five — the number of weddings I have to go to). Here are some cute options I found, but keep in mind that none of the weddings I am attending this season are uber fancy, I like color and funky details (and I like to keep my gals in check...).

Top row: Laura Dress, Made to Order from vivatveritas7; Sunset Yellow Shirt Dress from lemonstorynyc; Olive Green Jumper from RochellesLittleOnes
Middle row: Vibrant Mosaic Print V-Neck Dress from esoneofone; Lucy, Custon Made from myblackdress; Blue Dress from larimeloom

Board No. 10 - Curl-Up Clothes

I am exhausted from getting up really early this morning. That, on top of the terrible, rainy weather we've had all week, makes me want to curl up in comfortable — yet always stylish — clothes and find a big cozy couch. So, I decided to go clothes shopping, with a yoga-esque vibe in mind ...

Board No. 9 - Sale Jewelry

I was inspired this morning after seeing in my Twitter feed that LillyQueen posted about a Twitter (sponsored?) sale:Who doesn't love a sale in these economic times? So I thought I'd go on to Etsy and do a search for jewelry listings that are on sale or have been recently marked down. (And by the way, "sale" does not mean 5% off, people! Deals are $2 pearl earrings!) Now I don't know if any of these are a good deal even on sale — I'm not trying to editorialize — they are just items I think are beautiful. LillyQueen's necklace that she linked to is in the center, and is amazingly beautiful.
